Robot Mower Installation Process

The installation of your robot lawn mower typically takes between 2 and 5 hours, although larger or more complex gardens may require a full day or more to complete. Every garden is unique, and each robot mower model has its own installation requirements. At Platts Robotics, we tailor the installation approach to suit both your garden layout and the specific technology used by your robot mower.

Once the mower is connected and fully calibrated, we professionally define the virtual boundaries around your lawn perimeter. Next, we create precise exclusion zones around features such as trees, ponds, flower beds, and garden structures to ensure safe and accurate operation. If required, we can configure temporary exclusion zones for seasonal areas, such as spring bulbs and daffodils, or for newly seeded sections or landscaping works which can be easily enabled or disabled as your garden changes.

For gardens with multiple lawn areas, we create transport paths, allowing the mower to move efficiently between zones and maintain complete coverage of your entire lawn.

Before completion, we carry out extensive testing and fine-tuning to ensure optimal performance, navigation accuracy, and reliability. Our responsibility does not end when installation is complete. We continue to provide ongoing support and remote monitoring, and we will return if needed to make adjustments, ensuring your mower performs perfectly and delivers the best possible results.

A wired robot mower installation can typically cover up to 5000sqm, which is 1.25 acres, depending on the layout and complexity of your lawn. This is usually ample to cover the area of most gardens however we can install two or more machines side by side. For larger lawns than this and commercial areas of grass, RTK-satellite mowers using EPOS technology can quite easily handle lawns and even fields between 10,000-50,000 m². A whopping 18 acres!

Even if your garden is complex, a robotic mower can be programmed to navigate around shaped borders, trees, and ponds. It can handle narrow passages as small as 60 cm width and sloping banks too. If your garden has moss, the regular cutting of a robot lawnmower can have a positive impact on grass growth and gradually reduce the amount of moss on the lawn.
